Suspected gangster shoots, injures two tik smokers

Suspect opens fire in Helenvale home after trio refuses to share drugs with him

Two people were shot and injured and another escaped unscathed in Port Elizabeth's northern areas, when they allegedly refused to share their drugs with the shooter.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the shooting occurred at about 10pm on Tuesday when a suspected gangster burst into a house in Martin Street, Helenvale and demanded drugs.
“The victims were smoking [tik] when the suspect asked to smoke as well. When they refused to let him join in, he left but threatened to come back for them,” she said.
“Not long after, he returned and shot two of them,” Naidu said.
Naidu said a 27-year-old man was shot in the stomach and arm, while a 20-year-old woman was shot in the shoulder.
A third person escaped unscathed.
Naidu said the suspect ran away without taking any of the drugs.
The case was taken over by the provincial organised crime investigation unit.
