Bail application postponed for Petrus Scholtz murder accused

The bail application of the four people accused of the brutal murder of electrician Petrus Scholtz was postponed on Tuesday after two of the accused abandoned their formal bail applications.
Mother and daughter Christine, 55, and Chantell Russouw, 35, will next appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on August 28.
Their co-accused Wayne Russouw, 31, and Ronald Swartz will have their bail application heard on Thursday afternoon.
It was further ordered by the court that Swartz was to be moved to North End prison after he received threats while in custody at St Albans.
The four are accused of luring Scholtz to a home in Kabega Park on July 17 where they strangled and beat the 70 year old over the head before tying his hands and feet together and putting clingwrap around his head. They then put him in a freezer and placed a rock on it in fear that he may try to climb out. Scholtz body was found on July 20 dumped next to a dirt road in Fairview.
The Russouw’s were arrested the following day while Swartz was arrested a week later in North End.
