Reeva's friend claims Oscar intimidated her

Murder accused Oscar Pistorius may soon face an additional charge of intimidation following an alleged exchange between him and a friend of Reeva Steenkamp, the girlfriend he shot last year.

On Tuesday, Pistorius allegedly asked Kim Myers – the sister of Steenkamp’s best friend Gina - how she sleeps at night.

Myers was seated in the front bench of the courtroom, reserved for the Steenkamp and Pistorius families and close friends, with her mother Desiree.

The reported exchange happened during an adjournment.

Several independent, reliable sources confirmed seeing Pistorius speaking to Myers.

Myers then turned to her mother with a shocked expression and could be heard telling her: "He said: 'How do you sleep at night?' "

Lawyer for the Myers family, Ian Levitt, said in a statement yesterday: “My client Kim Myers was approached by Oscar Pistorius in court today and in a very sinister tone was asked: 'How can you sleep at night?'"

David Smith of British newspaper The Guardian tweeted that Pistorius denied speaking to Myers when Smith asked him about it.

"I haven't spoken to her. I haven't spoken to them in a year and a half," Smith quoted Pistorius on social network Twitter.

Myers told reporters that she was as yet too shocked to decide whether she wants to lay a complaint of intimidation.

Levitt said: "I have been in communication with the National Prosecuting Authority as well as the investigating officer. All other parties have also been informed.

"My client, however, will remain focused on the trial and will continue to attend court in support of Reeva."

Nathi Mncube, National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesman, said the alleged remarks were reported to the prosecuting team.

"The NPA can not do anything about this remark. In law we cannot get involved," Mncube said.

"The Myers family lawyer who made the report was advised to deal with the matter as they deem fit."
