Uncertainty over non-collection of refuse

There is uncertainty over why refuse bags across Nelson Mandela Bay had not been collected on Monday.

This follows a strike by refuse workers over a pay dispute last month.

Municipal spokesman Mthubanzi Mniki was unable to say whether the workers were striking.

“But what I can confirm is that the employees, their union and the employer have been locked up in a meeting the whole day. We still do not know the outcome out of the meeting,” he said.
