TWO Nelson Mandela Bay residents have put their walking shoes on for a good cause, walking to raise funds for a Port Elizabeth animal shelter.

Patrick Scott, 55, and his wife Beverley, 61, embarked on a journey of discovery and inspiration in an effort to raise funds for the annual spay-a-thon to be hosted by the Animal Anti-Cruelty League.

The couple started their walk on July 1 at Kemble, the source of the famous River Thames, and will finish 12 days later at the Thames Barrier in London, thus covering the entire length of the river.

This will be their longest walk since their first trek for charity in 2011.

All funds raised will be donated directly to the AACL to fund its annual spay-a-thon. Residents are invited to bring their animals to the AACL clinic and have them spayed. -Amir Chetty
