Recently crowned Mr South Africa Armand du Plessis – who spent time working for a good cause in Port Elizabeth – has promised to visit the city more often this year.

The 25-year-old was selected Mr South Africa last Wednesday.

Du Plessis participated in 12 months of rigorous competition activities, along with an original 108 contestants, to evaluate their leadership and interpersonal skills.

The programme included 10 different monthly challenges, as well as a 100-day social media campaign and a finalist week.

“As a Mr South Africa 2014 finalist, I had the opportunity to work in the community of Port Elizabeth twice with an organisation called DeskBags South Africa.

“I have also chosen DeskBags as my official charity and will be changing and touching more lives in the Eastern Cape. It has been an honour to have had the support from this beautiful province on my Mr South Africa journey and I will be visiting Port Elizabeth more often this year.

“I will dedicate my year as Mr South Africa to reach out to all our provinces,” Du Plessis, a final year law student in Pretoria, said.
