Woman's body found on St Francis beach

THE body of an elderly woman from St Francis Bay was found on the beach near the mouth of the Kromme River yesterday morning.
The body was found shortly after 9am when another resident was walking on the beach.
"The cause of death is unclear at this stage, but no foul play is suspected. An inquest has been opened and a postmortem will determine the cause of death," police spokeswoman Warrant Officer Gerda Swart said.
Police do not believe she drowned, but suspect she died of natural causes.
The woman, in her 70s, was a long-time resident of St Francis Bay.
Her name cannot be released until her next of kin have been notified. – Riaan Marais
