Double rape revenge
IN a vengeful attack on the woman whose testimony sent him to prison several years ago for rape, an Eastern Cape man waited until he was released on parole, tracked his victim down and allegedly raped her a second time.
Johannes Hector, 24, dragged the woman into an open field in Jansenville in December 2011, where he allegedly raped her before trying to rape her younger sister.
He has pleaded not guilty to both charges in the Jansenville Regional Court.
But the ordeal has left his traumatised victim with little faith in the justice system.
It took her family more than a week to convince her to report the second incident to the police. "The reason I did not want to open a case is because he has raped me before, and he was released on parole in that matter," the 55-year-old woman said in her statement before the court.
