SKINNERBEK | Royal turnout for high tea with the fragrance queen

Wine Fridays an all-female affair

Darlings, has it been one intense week!
Don’t we all just hate the heightened emotions during and right after elections? Skinners is just grateful the promises and blame-games have died down so the party can go on. Lol! See what I did there?
So last Friday your girl headed on out to the other side of the metro to Kwano’s Meat Corner for its Wine Fridays. If you want an all-female affair and just let loose with your girls, then that is the place to be on Fridays. The wine is cheap and the girls are turnt.
The only downside about last Friday was there was no DJ and one of the girls had to connect her phone to the speaker but the vibe was popping nonetheless.
Some of the women had a little too much to drink and thankfully no one was mean enough to take pictures. What happens at Kwano’s Meat Corner’s Wine Fridays stays there. My lips are sealed, Anelisa Tshanga. Don’t you worry.
On Saturday, as I was scratching my brains on what to do for my hen, my queen, my all, yes my mother, I heard about the high tea at the Boardwalk with the fragrance queen, Liz Ferrett, and I rustled up an ensemble and trotted my beautiful self, and of course the woman on whose shoulders I rise from, off to the do.
Upon arrival at the tea, we found the room resplendent with beautiful touches of autumn as the women had adorned themselves in beautiful garb ... well, some.
I spotted businesswoman Mimi Rupp who apparently had rounded up a whole lot of girlfriends, including Jane Stevenson, whom I have not seen around in a while, sporting a curly blond hairdo with a red jacket and jeans.Apparently she had just enjoyed a relaxing spa treatment.I loved Mimi’s Chinese pattern jacket.
In all that Bongi Siwisa was a vision in an emerald green dress accessorised with block heels. No surprises there, the lady has always known just exactly how to sport a look, Skinners believes.
The food? Awesome, but I someone should tell the chefs they need to mix it up a bit. I have been to the high tea before and it’s starting to become a little monotonous in the kitchen.
And just a whisper to Boardwalk events and entertainment coordinator Siya Mfundisi ... darling, you are absolutely fabulous behind the scenes, so maybe stick to that and put the mic down.
MC-ing’s an art, doll (wink). On that sweet note, Skinners is off for a weekend at the proms.
