Six held after hijack



A motorist was rescued from his car boot and six alleged hijackers arrested at the weekend.
The motorist , 60, had given two men a lift in his white Honda Ballade in Johnson Road, Kwazakhele, at about 7.30pm on Saturday. One of the men produced a firearm and ordered him to pull over in Qeqe Street.
Police spokesperson Captain André Beetge said: “He was locked in the boot of his vehicle and driven around for hours.”
Police spotted the vehicle just after midnight. Following a chase, one man jumped out and started shooting. The police returned fire, arrested the men and seized a 9mm pistol. The men are due in court on Monday.
