Council debate on Pikoli report
AFTER 14 months of gathering dust on mayor Ben Fihla's desk, the controversial Pikoli report will finally be discussed behind closed doors by the Nelson Mandela Bay council today.
However, it is unlikely that the report – which reveals how at least R6.7-million was allegedly misused on inflated salaries, bonuses, unauthorised loans and donations – will be debated at length as city manager Mpilo Mbambisa has recommended that the report undergo a legal review.
This comes after former National Prosecuting Authority boss Vusi Pikoli questioned why it had taken municipal bosses more than a year to discuss his report. - Rochelle de Kock
