Frustration over delays as fraud case postponed again

THE complainant in a five-year fraud trial voiced his frustration yesterday after the case was postponed yet again.

Adding to his woes, the case now stands the chance of having to start from scratch, after the prosecutor was accused of being "over friendly" towards the presiding magistrate.

The R2.2-million fraud case against PE Optical Group shareholder Desmond Prinsloo has faced several snags over the years.

Yesterday it was postponed for the umpteenth time after defence advocate Terry Price, instructed by attorney Alwyn Griebenow, said he would hand in heads of argument showing why magistrate Rene Esterhuyse should recuse himself. - Kathryn Kimberley
