Pepper-spraying foul mouth back behind bars

A FORMER Nelson Mandela Bay caretaker is back behind bars less than a month after being found guilty of calling a black traffic officer a k****r and pepper-spraying him.

This time, Mike van Niekerk is facing charges after being caught allegedly transporting 120kg of perlemoen worth R360000.

Van Niekerk, 60, who was found guilty of crimen injuria, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and reckless and negligent driving last month, was arrested in Marine Drive and had his bakkie confiscated on Tuesday evening. - Gareth Wilson
