'Hitman' suspect in double murder case

A HIT squad linked to the notorious 28 prison gang is believed to be responsible for the double execution of a Uitenhage mother and her cousin inside their home two weeks ago.

Members of the same alleged hit squad – believed to be orchestrating killings from jail – are standing trial after the murders of at least 40 key state witnesses in robbery and hijacking cases throughout Nelson Mandela Bay over the past year.

Police say they arrested a suspected trigger man and an accomplice in the latest killing at the weekend. - Gareth Wilson
