Time for Zille to take over, king tells crowd

KING Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo of the Thembu provided the highlight of the DA's biggest rally ever in Transkei when he told the crowd it was time for President Jacob Zuma to exit Mthatha so DA leader Helen Zille could enter.

The king told 1300 people at the rally at Walter Sisulu University that Zille must save the Thembu and the country from Nkandla and Zuma.

The enthusiastic crowd – many dressed in traditional dress with exquisite beading work – ululated, cheered, sang and danced.

The king said South Africa thirsted after the DA's politics of truth because it was tired of liars and traitors.

Explaining his recent, well-publicised meeting with Julius Malema, the king said the EFF leader had asked his permission to canvas for votes in his area. The king had granted permission because all parties must be allowed to canvas for votes.

Zille told the crowds all political parties must reject violence. The new struggle against the government was to be waged through the ballot box. - Jan-Jan Joubert
