Irate parents lock teachers out of Motherwell school

PARENTS at a Nelson Mandela Bay primary school yesterday locked staff out of the premises in protest against the loss of 10 teachers to the redeployment drive under way in the province.

The fed-up parents of Imbasa Primary School, in Motherwell, have threatened to continue with the school shut-down if the department does not respond to their pleas to keep their current staff complement.

It is the only primary school in NU12 and caters for pupils from the RDP settlement in NU29. It was forced to cut posts according to this year's post provisioning, which determines the number of teachers a school is entitled to. -
