Instructor jailed for pilot exam fraud scam

IN what has been hailed as a "precedent-setting conviction" in the aviation industry, a private pilot instructor has been found guilty of fraud and contravening various aviation regulations – for pretending to be a student writing a pilot exam.
Nedson Likhunya, 41, was arrested at the Marine Hotel in Port Elizabeth in April 2010 as he prepared to write the commercial pilot navigation exam on behalf of private pilot licence student Soponuchi Amadi, 26.
Likhunya was sentenced in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court to one year for fraudulently using Amadi's licence to gain entry to the exam and three years for contravening various aviation regulations. His private pilot licence was cancelled. -
