SPCA needs your help

THE Assissi branch of the SPCA in Humansdorp is in dire need of assistance.
Facing severe financial challenges following the termination of their grant by the Kouga municipality the board had to either close the doors or embark on a massive fund-raising drive.
With the help of a few very passionate people they came up with various ways to raise funds.
Apart from donations and a kind- hearted woman sponsoring the paving, they managed to secure a huge container which was set up on the premises of the SPCA where it borders KwaNomzamu Township in Humansdorp and now serves as a shop.
From here anything, from secondhand clothing, to shoes, utensils, food and sweets, are sold.
However, the success of the shop is dependant on the generosity of the public and the board is appealing for donations of unwanted goods. They also need animal food, blankets and towels.
The SPCA Assissi has recently been listed as a beneficiary on the MySchool/MyPlanet programme.
This means when you swipe your MySchool/MyPlanet card at Woolworths, Engen, Kalahari.com, Reggies, Altech Netstar, Supaquick, ToysRUs or Waltons, the SPCA Assissi automatically gets between 0.25 and 5% of your purchase amount paid into their account on a monthly basis. Without it costing you a cent or even raising a finger (that is if you do not count the actual swiping of the card) you are then helping out a furry friend in need, says board member Jessica Naude.
“If you already have a Woolworths or MySchool card, please remember you must select your charity of choice which will benefit from your purchases. You can do this by phoning 086-0100-445, following the steps and selecting SPCA Assissi Humansdorp,” says Naude.
“Alternatively you can update your profile on .- myschool.co.za/supporter/update/
“For those who do not have a MySchool/- MyVillage card please get one as soon as possible and start helping out.
“Visit .- myschool.co.za/supporter/apply/to fill out the application form and submit it online. And remember to please select SPCA Assissi Humansdorp as your beneficiary.”

Marie Erasmus can indulge in three body stress release sessions valued at R600, while Sarah Swanepoel and a partner will be treated to a full English breakfast valued at R100 each donated by Nina’s Restaurant.
