SEVERAL young soccer players from Ndlambe attended the Safa Transnet School of Excellence soccer trials in Somerset East earlier this month.

The soccer trials are open for players born in 1998, 1999 and 2000 and must be in Grade 8 or 9 next year.

The successful players will beadmitted to a school where they will be developedin football so that by time they are done with matric, theyare professional players.

Although this was a life-time opportunity to the disadvantaged young players, some of the local football associations neversent players to thetrials, according to Safa Cacadu regional president Mzwanele Wopa.

The few local football associations who sentplayers to the talent search event in Somerset Eastwere from Ndlambe, Makana andSundays River Valley.

Two players, Siphelele Satjie of George Dickerson Primary School and Lebo Soule of CM Vellem Higher Primary School, both in Grahamstown, were chosen to undergo a final assessment trial which will be held in Kempton Park School of Excellence in Gauteng this weekend.

Both the players are from the Sakhulutsha Soccer Development Academy.

Officials from the Safa Transnet School of Excellence were impressed by the talent the young players displayedon the day.
