Woodridge’s bi-annual Knock on Wood Arts Festival started on Monday and is running at the revamped Woodridge Campus until Friday.
It combines a traditional eisteddfod concept with a more general celebration of the arts, with more than 35 Eastern Cape schools taking part in the eisteddfod segment.
Choir concerts, exhibitions, writing and choral workshops, and more are included.
The festival will see 17 choirs and seven large ensembles in the choir category with a choral conducting workshop by Junita van Dijk.
St Dominic’s Priory’s marimba group, the Victoria Park, Theodor Herzl and Lawson Brown steel bands and several contemporary Woodridge instrumental and vocal ensembles are entertaining guests during informal lunch-hour concerts, all free of charge.
Rock fans have Woodstock
to look forward to on Wednesday at 7pm. The lineup includes Cotton Fields and the combo of James Smith on voice and keyboards; Rob Thompson on lead guitar; Timon Oosthuizen on drums and Dave Houghton on bass guitar.
Bay vocal group The Creed will perform at 6pm on Thursday. Supporting artists include saxophonist Paul Richard, pianist Evan Perkins and Dave Houghton on classical guitar.
