Madibaz 1 qualified for the Momentum National Club Championship when they thumped University of Fort Hare by 90 runs in the Warriors’ regional playoff in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.Set 238 for victory, Fort Hare could only manage 147 to ensure Madibaz 1’s passage to the nationals to be held in Tshwane from April 13 to 17.Fort Hare won the toss at the Madibaz Oval and opted to field first.After two early breakthroughs, Jarryd Lookwhy (91) and Matthew Christensen (54) got together and shared a match-winning 139-run stand for the third wicket.Lookwhy faced 114 balls and struck nine fours in his innings as Unathi Mbathane took four for 57 for the visitors.Fort Hare got off to a bright enough start in their chase with Akona Namba (35) and Mkhululi Calana (23) top-scoring.
