Top Pefa contenders thrash opponents

BOTH contenders for the Pefa Premier League title continued to demolish their opposition over the weekend.

Log-leaders Callies thrashed KwaDwesi All Stars 3-0 at Londt Park on Friday evening after leading 2-0 at half time. Cleavon Draai and Benito Draai were the goal scorers.

In the second half, Darryn Bamboo and Warren Reid completed the rout.

In a Reserve League game played earlier in the evening, Callies Reserves thumped their KwaDwesi counterparts 7-0.

Vodacom NMMU Madibaz, who trail Callies by three points with two matches in hand, beat NMB Municipality 3-0.

In a goalless first half, the students struggled to overcome a physical Municipality outfit. In the second half, the students decided to fight fire with fire and the move paid off as inspirational skipper Kurt Duff opened the scoring with a powerful header.

Lukhanya Ndabete added a brace to give the students an easy win.

In the curtain-raiser, Madibaz Reserves beat Municipality Reserves 4-0. Reginald Mbokane (2), Lwandile Balfour and Floirian Braksiek were the goal scorers.

Forresters retain third spot with a 2-0 win over defending champions Central Acemates.

Motherwell Academy thrashed tailenders PE Home Rovers to move away from the relegation zone.
