Five arrested following Port Alfred gun shop robbery

Five men have been arrested in connection with a Port Alfred gun shop robbery last week and 10 stolen firearms recovered.
The five were arrested in Port Elizabeth on Thursday.
The 10 firearms - including handguns, pistols and revolvers - are among 50 stolen from Gidana Arms in Bank Street, Port Alfred at about 11am last Thursday.
Hawks spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha said the bust - a joint operation between a specialist tactical intervention unit and the Hawks - was the result of a tip-off about the whereabouts of one of the suspects.
“The Hawks swiftly commenced with the investigations and on Thursday, information about a suspect allegedly in possession of illegal firearms was followed up in Zwide," he said.
“Five suspects were rounded up at different addresses and the firearms were confiscated”
More arrests are expected.
The five are expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Friday.
