Dagga found at Cape Town crèche

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape will rope in the Department of Social Development after it uncovered a big stash of dagga at an unregistered crèche in Seawinds, Cape Town.

The bust came on Saturday afternoon‚ when “members of Muizenberg SAPS‚ under the command of Captain Stephen Knapp‚ responded to a tip-off from the community regarding the possible sale and storage of a large amount of cannibas in Seawinds”.

Police obtained a warrant to search the St Patricks Avenue residence — “which serves as an unregistered crèche” — and “dagga was discovered under the built-in cupboards in the kitchen”.

“The owner of the residence‚ a 56-year-old male‚ was present during the search and the police confiscated a total of 36 parcels of dagga‚ 28 bankies and 22 sticks of dagga.

“The owner was subsequently arrested and charged for dealing in narcotics.

“The location of these illegal substances at a crèche is alarming and this information will be forwarded to the Department of Social Development.”

Anybody with further information is asked to contact the Muizenberg police station on 021 787 9000. All information will be treated with the strictest confidence.
