SHARK Rock Pier’s reopening has been postponed after an upgrade of the popular tourist attraction ground to a halt in April – just weeks into the renovations.

The wooden handrails and other parts of the pier had been stripped in preparation for the upgrade, said to cost between R2- million and R3-million, and the Hobie Beach pier has been closed to the public since April.

But there has been no progress for almost two months due to a “paperwork glitch”.

DA councillor Dean Biddulph said he had asked the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality about the renovations as he had noticed some time in May that there was no progress on the site. -Avuyile Mngxitama-Diko
