Mass vow renewal on cards for Valentine’s Day

Uitenhage church is offering married couples the chance to reaffirm their love for each other at a mass vow-renewal event on Valentine’s Day weekend next month.

Although the programme is being hosted by Elim Assembly of God, anyone is welcome to share in what the church hopes will be a “love-affirming” occasion.

Event organiser Jill Groenewald said 15 couples had signed up for the two-day event, which starts with a half-day workshop on Valentine’s Day, February 14, and culminates in a mass vow-renewal service the next day, a Sunday.

The church’s senior pastor, Haydon Ownhouse, and his wife Deonna will be part of this group.

“With the high divorce rate, I think it is important to stress that falling in love is easy – it’s staying in love that we need to work on,” Ownhouse said.
