Metro guards in 'racism' probe

POLICE are investigating a case of crimen injuria after an elderly Summerstrand woman and her daughter became involved in an altercation with a high-serving Nelson Mandela Bay councillor and security guards hired by the municipality.

The 72-year-old, who does not want to be named for fear of victimisation, yesterday accused one guard, employed by contract company Metro Security, of spitting on her and being racially abusive when she tried to park her car on Vuyisile Mini Square.

She insisted she had a parking permit signed by the mayor's office and that she had been parking on the square every Wednesday for the past year while attending church. -
