Art show to open love garden

A Port Elizabeth wedding and functions venue is welcoming guests to a Spring and Love Festival with an art exhibition to mark the opening of its “love garden” on Saturday.
Theescombe’s Swanlake Gardens held a summer festival in March and this is its first Spring and Love Festival.
Venue owner and artist DS Marius Lourens will showcase artworks in the contemporary art exhibition, with fellow artists Elschen Jansen, Anton Momberg and Niël Malan.
“It is exciting to link a theme to a garden [and] love is surely one of the most important aspects of life – therefore I chose a love garden,” Lourens said.
“It was a challenge to create something unique and fresh, that fits within the variety of South African culture, not too kitsch, a playground for photographers and couples in love.”
He hopes it will become a venue where couples, families and friends can celebrate and make memories filled with love.
The spring festival will have food and craft stalls, a clivia show, and more on Saturday from 8am to 7pm. Ray’s Dance Studio will present a dance show in the garden at 11am.
A second festival day will be held on Saturday, October 13. Admission is R30 for the general public and R20 for children and pensioners.
