Divas 2018 shimmies to Port Elizabeth for a one-night only concert at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre on Saturday.
This year’s show features international star Karyn White, as well as one of SA’s own divas, Sasha-Lee Davids, and vivacious singing duo G&T.
White is best known for her smash hit song and female anthem Superwoman, which sold more than a million units worldwide, and was named Billboard R&B Song of the Year in 1989.
More recently, White has released a new movie and soundtrack, Gale & The Storm, loosely based on her own story and that of manager and legendary music producer Jay King.
In this weekend’s concert, she will deliver an array of fiery and soulful melodies in her powerful trademark style. The show will take the audience back to the good old days of 1970s and ‘80s music.
Sasha-Lee Davids was the 2009 co-winner of SA Idols 5 and winner of the 2008 reality television show Matrix 2. She has released a debut album, titled Sasha-Lee, and worked with Jamie Jones, lead singer of the Grammy award-winning group All-4-One, on a track titled Before You.
Female duo G&T, comprising best friends Shelley Gordon and Sarah-Jane Thomas, are taking SA by storm with their energetic shows covering modern hits. Their debut single Shameless, produced in the US by multiple Grammy winner Khari “Needlz” Cain, was released in September last year.
Tickets to Divas 2018 are at Computicket and range from R195 to R325, at Computicket. The show starts at 8pm.
