‘Imali Yomlingo’ single duo to rock it in Joe Slovo

As the Gqom genre of house music populates the national music industry, a Ziyawamo Productions duo is riding the wave with their new single Imali Yomlingo.
Sisipho Nontanda, 27, and Money Maker hitmaker DJ Smallz, 33, are in the Bay on Saturday on a promotional tour of the single. They will perform at Nokuthula’s Place in Joe Slovo at 6pm.The duo are no newbies in the music industry, with both having built careers led their own lives separately until Nontanda joined Ziyawamo Productions recently.
Nontanda is a former member of Durban-based girl band Chaos. She joined the groupwhile studying Journalism and Media Studies in Durban. During her music journey she was also featured on Big Nuz’s Udaddy Onemali.
However, the Mthatha-born vocalist took a hiatus and focused on her career in media. She joins Ziyawamo Productions as the label’s first female Gqom artist while also pursuing her day job.
Smallz, on the other hand, has been with the label from the beginning of his career when he started out as a dancer for Mshoza.
He shone shined in the industry in 2008, after dropping his hit single Money Maker followed by the album Money Spender in 2010. In 2012, he dropped another song with hip-hop artist GP Gangster.
Smallz and Sisipho are set to release a series of singles from the upcoming album Ziyawamo Summer18. The album is a collaboration between  various artists.
“Besides the Ziyawamo artists, I have one song for which I worked with Roba Letheka [singer] Ishmael,” Smallz said.
He and Sisipho are not a permanent duo and she will be working as a solo artist on future projects.
Imali Yomlingo was released on July 6. The album, Ziyawamo Summer18,  will be released in digital music stores on Friday in physical stores two weeks later
