SAMA award winner Phinda Mtya Matlala, who is now based in Johannesburg, recently visited her family in New Brighton. She was busy organising the launch of the Nelson Mandela Bay Voices when she took some time out of her busy schedule to enjoy her favourite meal at Man Buy and Braai in Deal party. She ordered a plate of pap, salads, steak and chicken wings as she was still waiting for her braaied meat and boerewors. She washed down everything with a cold bottle of Stoney ginger beer.

I picked this restaurant/ spot because...I like the ambience. Their service and hospitality is impeccable.

I'll know I've made it when...I have my own label with multiple selling artists from the Eastern Cape.

I love my career because...I'm a people's person and it gives me the platform to interact with people.

The person who has taught me the most is...my brother, the late Gcobani Mtya. My taste in music is largely influenced by what he listened to. He was 10 years older, so he was my sole hero!

I share my life with... my family. I have a huge and very close knit family.

I have a soft spot for...children.

I should have studied...medicine.

I'm listening to...jazz music, I have a love for the bass guitar.

When I was 16, I wish I knew...to be still and let God drive, that no matter what I did God would prevail.

My music weakness is...listening to the bass guitar.

Nothing makes me happier than... listening to Google live music while reading a good book.

My favourite item of clothing is... shoes.

I absolutely hate...duplicity.

I am saving to buy...a truck.

I can't go a day without...telling my husband I love him. - Yoliswa Sobuwa
