He's enjoying the ride

NEWLY appointed general manager of the Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World, Brett Hoppe, took time out of his busy schedule to have lunch with La Femme.

Hoppe, who is an avid off-road motorcycling, mountain biking and surfing enthusiast, admitted to having, in his own words, "TMI – Too many interests".

He shared a table full of treats – with lamb, seafood, smoked salmon, game terrine, bread, cream cheese – trying out various new dishes for a prospective new menu.

I chose to have lunch at Kiplings Brasserie because I love the view. It's the place to be seen during summer.

I love my career because it's given me the gift of travel.

I'll know I've made it when I get to race motorcycles off-road professionally ... financed by my wife Collette.

The person who has taught me the most is Madiba. He has taught me (simply by observation and not live teaching) by his approach on life. He leads by example.

I have a soft spot for my two-year-old daughter, princess Jorja. She runs the house.

I should have studied something mechanical. I've got the mechanical ability of a brick.

I'd love to party with the heavy metal band Metallica

I'm reading ... The Customer-Centric Blueprint by Doug Leather. It's more of a textbook than a novel.

When I was 16, I wish I knew ... I knew it all then so I really don't understand the question.

My music weakness is ... I've got two. Classical and heavy metal. There's one song I love on Metallica's S&M album where they play with a symphony orchestra.

Nothing makes me happier than time with my family.

My favourite item of clothing is my baggy jeans.

I absolutely hate arrogance and disrespect.

I am saving to buy more motorcycles.

I share my life with my wife, who is my absolute rock, and princess Jorja, who runs both of us as well as the house.

I can't go a day without my Ipad.

My favourite places in the metro are all the beaches, the Rover Motorcycle Club in Walmer, Leonardo's Pizza restaurant at the Boardwalk, Ginger Restaurant at the Beach Hotel and the Algoa Bay Yacht Club.
