Festive parties to ring in new year


Where will you be ringing in the new year? With a host of gigs lined up for Nelson Mandela Bay, you will be spoilt for choice with some of the best parties happening around the metro on Monday evening.
1. Concert and fireworks display at Hobie Beach and Wells estate: Soul Good director Darren Mungur said about 150,000 people were expected at the beach events.
The two parties, offering similar music, will run parallel, with pop singer Nokwazi Dlamini as the headline act.
“There will also be 16 local acts from around the Bay. Both events will start at 4pm until 1am. We will have the 20minute fireworks display at midnight,” Mungur said.
Entry to both events will be free of charge.
2. New Year’s jam at Roof Garden Bar: A city-life, rooftop vibe is on offer for the over-20s hosted by DEEP BREW, Sundaze. DEEP BREW team member Gus Noppé says those looking for an “intimate and classy party feel” should head down to 33 Chapel Street in Central, Port Elizabeth, on Monday.
Doors open at 2.30pm and entry fee is R250.
3. The New Year, New Beginning party at the Sun Boardwalk: Bid farewell to 2018 and welcome 2019 in style at the annual New Year’s Eve party at the Boardwalk’s International Convention Centre.
The R395 package includes arrival drinks, entertainment and a buffet dinner. Children aged 2-11 will be charged R200.
4. Masquerade Ball: “Come dance 2018 out and 2019 in with your loved ones,” say the hosts of the masquerade ball at Open Sky Entertainment Park, Restaurant & Lapa in Little Chelsea, Port Elizabeth. Get your share of pizzas and meat baskets at the food stall and “drink specials galore”, with entertainment from DJ Wings.

5. New Year’s Eve party at The Barn: Gerhard Pace, Dirk van der Westhuizen and Ruan van der Kuil will rock the show at The Barn in Greenbushes.

6. The Godfather Supreme’s NYE bash: The Godfather Supreme in North End, Port Elizabeth, will be hosting the JC le Roux Epic NYE Party on Monday, starting at 8pm.
Old school, hip-hop, R&B and house music will be on offer along with free champagne on arrival. Tickets are R50 and entry at the door will cost R80. WhatsApp 076-638-6523 for tickets and more details.
7. The official countdown Summer Night Party at Los Amigos Restrobar in Sydenham: Come dressed in your florals/whites and brights to welcome the new year, Los Amigos Restrobar management says. Braai packs will be on sale. Fires will provided and tons of shooter specials. Doors will open at 6pm. Entry is free.
8. FUSED Sunset x Sip & Chill New Year’s: This NYE event at The VIP, Boardwalk, in Summerstrand, is going to be “nothing short of magical”, the organisers say. Doors open at 4pm. Pre-sold tickets from R80R100 and tickets at the door will be R120-R150.
