Tough fight for promotion

THE playoffs for a place in the Safa-NMB SAB League will be held at the Jabavu soccer and rugby stadiums in KwaNobhule this weekend.

The winners of the Premier League of each of the 12 local football associations (LFAs) affiliated to Safa-NMB will compete for the two places in the SAB league.

This year's playoffs will see a good mix of the clubs which played in the league previously, those that featured in last year's playoffs and several others that will be aiming to win promotion for the first time.

Both Zwifa and Pefa will be hoping that Major Chiefs and Hearts win promotion after their representatives, Sunrise (Zwifa) and Motherwell Academy (Pefa) were relegated at the end of last season.

LFAs like Zafa, Nebfa, Penfa and Kuygafa which have not had a team in the league in recent years will be hoping a team from their areas will win (promotion).

Nodefa champions, Imbabala Young Stars, who narrowly missed out on promotion last year, are confident they will make it this time around.

Zafa champions, Njoli United Brothers will be one of the teams to watch out for.

The teams will play a gruelling round robin in four groups tomorrow, with the winners meeting in the semifinals on Sunday. The winners of the semis will gain automatic promotion.
