City plan to dim Stars’ hopes

MOTHERWELL semi-professional side Real City will be hoping to sink Red Stars deeper into the relegation zone when the two teams clash in an Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League match at the NU2 Stadium in Motherwell at 7pm.

City coach Bonke Namba is confident of collecting maximum points against the team from Lusikisiki to move a step closer to bettering his side's log position.

Home side, City are 11th on the log with 27 points from 26 matches, while Stars are rock- bottom with seven points from 27 games.

"We expect a tough match against them because Stars are also hungry to collect maximum points to move away from the relegation zone," Namba said

"But I have no doubt we will beat them as we want to maintain our dignity and the club's image at home."

Namba said that with less than four games remaining before the end of the season, his team was ready to close the league in a better spot and on a high note.

"We've got nothing to lose in our remaining games whether we win or lose, because we are in a safe place on the standings and we are using the remaining matches as our preparations for next season.

"This is our first campaign in the Safa Second Division League and we have encountered so many challenges but we've learned from those challenges, hence we are looking forward to fighting for a better position on the log table next time," Namba added. City play their next league fixture away against Cloud Nine and their last match will be at home against Tembu Royals. - Mthetho Ndoni
