Fighting metro bungle

IT appears our metro has huge administrative problems, especially in its favour.

We had the municipality somehow get its fingers into our bank account in March. We found a double deduction for electricity purchase.

The bank was able to reverse it.

The metro then added the amount back on to our rates account, added a R100 "penalty" plus interest (for monies stolen by it) and threatened to cut services if we did not pay up.

In the meantime I had laid a number of complaints at the Walmer municipal offices, all to no avail.

I have been sent another account with more interest added, despite receiving a letter from the treasury department apologising for the mistake. It has cost me hours of time and petrol money to try to put right the bizarre "mistake".

Or was it deliberate fraud? I have an internal letter which I insisted on getting a copy of, sent by Vuyani Budaza, saying there had been 83 duplicated transactions amounting to R49804 in March.

We will be very pleased when this matter is resolved, of course if it ever will be!
