Rather use Mandela's name

THERE are more important things to concern ourselves about than worrying about renaming the airport and what a proposed name. Must I now say, "I am going to the Pebco Three Airport"?

Name it the Nelson Mandela Airport, which goes with the name of the metro, and I and many more who live in it and to whom it belongs will maybe agree on that name.

It appears Ben Fihla gets spun around the little finger very easily. He does not first delve into a situation. We are so prone to be easily taken for a ride.

Now just because something happened at the airport (the arrest of the three), it must be named after them. How many other arrests were not made here at the then HF Verwoerd Airport?

I do not for the life of me believe that proposal bears any relevance and/or significance. Just name the darn thing "Port Elizabeth Airport" finish and klaar.

Port Elizabeth belongs to all who live in it and wasting money on petty issues like renaming the airport is not giving a "better life for all".

Spend that money on better pensions for the people who loyally contributed in taxes over the years to this country. I consider this renaming to be lavish spending of the highest degree.

Do not dwell on the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. Walter Sisulu once said, "It is a law of life that problems arise when conditions are there for their solution".

I eagerly await response to what I feel is the truth.
