Street lights a gloomy affair

I READ with interest an SMS in the "your chirps" column of the Herald (January 31) from "Hebe". I am so glad that Hebe is so impressed with the service received for reporting a street light which was hit by a truck. The matter was reported on a Tuesday morning and that same night a brand new light had been installed.

As impressed as what Hebe is, so unimpressed am I and my surrounding neighbours.

Last year I reported a street light which was taken out of the ground by a motorist.

It took them three to four months to replace and to date the new replacement is not glowing. A reference number was issued for the streetlight – 483566.

It is a great pity Hebe did not mention which suburb this was in because maybe the area of residence plays a role in the services you get? Maybe it would be a good thing for the municipality to give us a quarterly report of where the outstanding services fees are in the metro.
