Police still hunting taxi boss’s killer

WHILE friends and family prepare for the funeral of former Port Elizabeth taxi boss Sandi Mbona, police are no closer to finding his killer.

Mbona, 69, was shot and killed at his New Brighton home on Sunday.

He will be buried at the North End cemetery on Saturday following an 8am service at the Arthur Wellington Methodist Church in New Brighton.

Luyanda Mbona, 37, said friends and family from all over the province were expected to attend.

While police are yet to establish a motive for Mbona’s death, members of the Port Elizabeth District Taxi Association believe the killing could be linked to his involvement with the association and his attempts to regain his position as chairman.

More than a dozen murders allegedly linked to Pedta have gone unsolved since 2008.

A police spokesman said yesterday no arrests had been made.
