The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is currently investigating a case of attempted cable theft which may have caused the electrical outage in Central, Port Elizabeth today (15/06/15).
One of the suspects was burnt and has been taken to hospital where he is receiving treatment.
"It appears that the security of the M&S Substation was breached. At around 10am this morning, the M&S Substation blew and this caused an electricity outage over the PE Central area," municipal chief spokesman Roland Williams said.
Power was restored at 11:30 today.
