Madibaz plan to improve home support

Season ticket package for Varsity Cup games

Ambitious Madibaz coach David Maidza says he would like bigger crowds to cheer his team at their four home matches in the Varsity Cup competition in Port Elizabeth this season.

He was reacting to news that Madibaz rugby fans can book a ringside seat for their Varsity Cup campaign following the announcement of a season ticket package costing R200.

Season ticket holders will receive entrance to all the Port Elizabeth team’s home games, plus bonus tickets should NMMU’s Varsity Cup and Young Guns teams go through to the playoffs and finals.

Ticket holders will also be entitled to reserved parking at the Madibaz Stadium on the NMMU south campus and receive a branded Varsity Cup supporters’ T-shirt or vest, with access to vendor services in the main pavilion.

“This is really a brilliant initiative. We never really charged any gate fees for anyone to come in, but the season ticket scheme should generate a little bit of funding for the varsity.

“It is a good move and we would like more numbers at the stadium. That is a key thing,” Maidza said.
