Deck at Plett restaurant collapses

Three people are being treated for "medium to serious" injuries after a portion of a small deck at the Lookout Deck, a popular restaurant in Plettenberg Bay, collapsed today.

According to Plettenberg Bay Tourism approximately six others are being treated for minor cuts when the deck fell approximately 1.8

meters.

Plett Tourism media spokesperson Patty Butterworth said the incident occurred when matric students were celebrating their results.

"We wish those injured a speedy recovery", said Butterworth.

The Lookout Deck owner, Chris Stroebel, said he was thankful there were few injuries.

Stroebel said the deck slid down the wall, creating a gradient which caused those on the deck to slide down. "That particular area was not open at the time; however there were individuals using the area to smoke".
