More stoppages for motorists using John Tallant

CONSTRUCTION on John Tallant Road in Deal Party, Port Elizabeth, has reached its projected completion date, but will continue to leave a sour taste in motorists' mouths as they are forced to endure the severe traffic congestion and inconvenient delays for a further two months.

Since its commencement date in April last year, the R48-million project has caused headaches and frustration among commuters, especially from Uitenhage, Despatch and Swartkops, who use the road daily.

Due to unforeseen delays, project manager of the John Tallant upgrades Francois Timothieus said both the budget and time frame had expanded. Although the project was initially expected to cost R44-million, the price would escalate to R48-million due to the delays. - Tremaine van Aardt
