Cops see red over 'racist remarks'

A SENIOR Port Elizabeth police officer has ruffled feathers at a city police station over alleged racist remarks that white staff were "sinking the station".

In addition, Colonel Mpho Rabela, station commander at Kabega Park police station, is accused of forcing officers of all religions to attend Christian prayers twice a week.

The allegations come after a meeting at the station last week. Provincial police spokeswoman Brigadier Marinda Mills said they were looking into the matter.

Rabela, who has been at Kabega Park for just more than a year, said this week he had received the media's inquiry from provincial police bosses on Tuesday and had responded to them. He refused to comment any further. - Hendrick Mphande
