Ice-cream vendors' murder trial postponed

THE Port Elizabeth High Court trial involving five ice-cream vendors accused of killing their employer was yesterday postponed to October 7.

Anele Gayiya, Olwethu Ngoxaza, Luvuyo Gavin Prince and Luntu Makasi, all of Kwazakhele, and Zola Erosi, of New Brighton, have been in custody since July 2010.

The state alleges the men, who were employees at an ice-cream business in the Neave industrial township, attacked Darren Stanley, 34, and his parents, Anne and Eric.

They allegedly beat and kicked Darren to death and stuffed his body and those of his barely alive parents into chest freezers over a payment dispute. – Lee-Anne Butler
