Skinnerbek | Hello. It’s me to the roaring 20s

Hello, darlings. Remember we all agreed last week that a whole lot can happen in a week? Well, in just the past week your Skinnerbek travelled all the way back to the 1920s and back again. But you’ll read all about it a little later because right now I need to tell you about 1054 in Walmer.
So last Thursday was the official launch of the breathtaking 1054 building on Main Road. This is where the “Hello. It’s Me” restaurant is situated, and your gal cannot shut up about the entire building which has rented out office space to several businesses.
All I’m saying is I’m actually grateful I don’t have an appetising restaurant like Hello. It’s Me in the same building as my office, because I don’t know how much flabbier these arms could get.
Of course we were treated to delicious eats at the opening where I spotted our mayor with his wife, and what is a restaurant opening without Food In PE and Tayla Foong?
Last Saturday also delivered its dose of fun. Nedbank hosted Old Town, a cashless gathering to promote the Masterpass app. The most fun part? The theme was 1920s style which your girl dismally failed to pull off (Lol!). Before you judge me, I was definitely not the only one who failed in the fashion stakes but the event was a jol nonetheless.
It’s definitely something I’d have cancelled plans for because it wasn’t your usual come-drink-go gathering. The parking lot at Heritage Cafe was adorned with mini tents and looked nothing like a parking lot. We enjoyed yummy eats from Bubba’s Texas BBQ accompanied by gin and tonic but your gal couldn’t afford to have too much of all that as she still had to rock heels and dash to the Bitclub Network gala evening at the Boardwalk, where a three-course dinner awaited her.
If you didn’t get to the event and want an idea of what you missed out on, check out photographer Basil Brady or Joshua Mudrovcic’s Facebook pages as they were there to snap every moment.
I arrived at the Boardwalk Hotel to some serious red carpet vibes with everyone dressed to kill and this again had me feeling under-dressed. Even the snappiest dressers can truly miss the mark sometimes!
I don’t have a clear idea of what this Bitcoin and crypto-currency stuff is all about and, to be quite honest, I have my own trust issues, but that networking gala had me wanting to know more.
Spotted there were a couple of Bitcoin promoters like Lonwabo Fololo and his gorgeous wife and Bay business power couple Nadine and Bradley Murray who all looked dazzling.
On that sparkling note, let’s meet again next week!
