What's on in PE art galleries

Nelson Mandela Bay art galleries are showing the following exhibitions this week:

GALERIE NOKO

“New Now Next!” is calling for entries at Galerie Noko in Russell Road until December 3, a competition aiming to give up-and-coming artists an opportunity to showcase their work.

Interested artists, aged between 18 and 34, are to submit three to six original artworks not exhibited before. The exhibition will open to the public on December 14.

NMMAM

“Beauty is All Around Us” in on at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum until November 24. This exhibition of works from the permanent collection celebrates our natural heritage and looks at how artists draw inspiration from nature.

Gallery hours are 9am to 5pm on weekdays, except Tuesday mornings and public holidays (until further notice). Inquiries: Emma O’Brien, (041) 506-2000.

The museum is also showing “The Vibrant City” until January 22, 2017, items drawn from the Art Museum’s permanent collection that allow the public to “see the city through the eyes of artists”.

ARTEC

Hennie Odendaal opens a woodturning art and sculpture exhibition on Tuesday, October 18 at ArtEC, 36 Bird Street.

The exhibition will be open to the public from Wednesday, October 19 until Friday, October 28.

GFI GALLERY

The Erica Girls’ Primary School art exhibition showing at the GFI Art Gallery in park drive closes on Saturday, October 22. The artwork of Lindsay Potgieter and her Grade 1 to 7 pupils is on display.

The gallery will open and announce the winner of the Lions Peace Poster contest on Tuesday, October 18 at 5.30pm for 6pm. It will be on show until October 29.
