Bay songbird Dikana to be support act for Legend

THERE is no doubt Port Elizabeth-born Lulu Dikana will be giving her all as the supporting act during the Johannesburg leg of John Legend's "All of Me Tour" in South Africa.

The American singer and songwriter is performing in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban in November.

Dikana, who was born in Kwazakhele, is a supporting act at the three Johannesburg shows.

"Legend is one of the artists who inspired me to stay in soul music. I can't even tell you how I feel at the moment.

"My fans have always told me I remind them of him when I sing," she said.

"After everything was finalised, I was not allowed to say anything. I had to wait for Big Concerts, the company that is bringing Legend to South Africa, to break the news first.

"When I saw the news on their website, I was over the moon because it proved I was not dreaming." Dikana said she hoped she would be given a full set to perform her songs.

"I have exciting tracks from my new album, I came to love, which will be out in November.

"My fans will know that, like Legend, I always sing about love.

"With this album I wanted to make a statement and spread the message of love," she said.

"However, my favourite track on the album is Good Love.

"Even though it will be a good opportunity for me to introduce my new album to thousands of people who will attend the shows, I will also perform songs from my previous albums."

Legend's tour, which is sold out, will feature the singer in an intimate setting, highlighted by guitar and vocal accompaniments, bass, drums as well as a string quartet.

Fans can expect to hear his hit single,  All of Me, from his fourth studio album, Love In The Future, as well as a mix of songs from his previous albums.

He is performing in Cape Town on November 15, 16 and 17, at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg on November 19, 22 and 23 and in Durban on November 21. - Yoliswa Sobuwa
