Proudly SA in move to boost entrepreneurs

Focus now includes small businesses Corporates, big business and state-owned enterprises have a responsibility to assist small business towards sustainability to help to drive growth in the national economy. This is according to Proudly South African chief marketing officer Happy maKhumalo Ngidi who was speaking ahead of the organization's high-level business conference – aimed at the small to medium enterprise sector – to take place in Port Elizabeth today. Proudly SA’s mandate traditionally involves marketing South Africa as a brand and promoting the procurement of local products and services. But now the organization's backing of the development of small business was required because it was a sector that simply could not be ignored, Ngidi said. “These enterprises form the back bone of the economy. “So part of our involvement in the conference, which forms part of a road show around the country, is directed at encouraging big business to get involved with the small business sector,” she said. “The aim is to expose small businesses to opportunities and to help grow their contributions to the economy. “The development of small and medium businesses will naturally put more spend into the economy, help to grow it and have a positive impact on job creation.

“These will, in turn, provide a stronger economy for big business to operate in.”

She said today’s event would expose participants to Proudly SA’s functions and successes.
