Award for logistics company

AN Eastern Cape logistics firm has been recognised by Toyota South Africa Motors for exceptional service.

CAT-WWL Logistics, a joint venture between Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) and Groupe CAT, received a Supplier Achievement Award in the Services Category at the 2013 Annual Supplier Awards Ceremony.

The firm's contribution to safety, quality, cost management, flexibility, continuous improvement and service delivery was evaluated before the award was issued.

CAT-WWL's headquarters is in Durban but it has 10 operational sites or vehicle processing centres across the country.

Two of these are based at Volkswagen Group South Africa in Uitenhage and Mercedes Benz in East London, CAT-WWL managing director Karen Radford said.

CAT-WWL's association with Toyota began in September 2009 when the company was granted a three- year contract to manage Toyota's vehicle distribution centre storage yard.

In October 2012, Toyota reappointed CAT-WWL for three more years, and today the firm offers logistics services and yard management solutions for all SA produced Toyota vehicles as well as all imported vehicles, handling 210000 vehicles a year and employing about 300 people. - Business Reporter
